Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), late July

The Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) is held in San Miguel, Leon and Irapuato. Over the course of about 10 days, hundreds of movies from all over the world are screened, for free, in both conventional and rather surprising venues throughout the cities.

Also included are workshops, conferences, and activities.  According to its website, since 1998, "GIFF has established itself as the most important platform for young filmmakers in Latin America."  

Directors, screenwriters and actors are often available for Q&A after the films.  A incredibly big bang for no bucks.
