WHO WAS BISHOP DÍEZ DE SOLLANO?
José María de Jesús Díez de Sollano y Dávalos was born in San Miguel de Allende on November 29th, 1820. One of San Miguel’s most illustrious sons, at 43 he became the first native-born Mexican bishop and is responsible for the exquisite façade of the beloved and much admired church in the town center, Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.
