Description:

Casa del Obispo (The Bishop´s House) is located on Sollano street, one block from the town center. Recently remodeled by architect Sebastián Zavala and decorated by Anne Marie Midy, this magnificent house still maintains its most distinctive original features, such as the splendid stone archways and high ceilings. In the tradition of old Mexican homes, the rooms cluster around the central patio. In the charming kitchen, contemporary appliances blend with traditional Mexican-style décor. The lush garden and the one-of-a-kind hothouse make Casa del Obispo a dream for gardening devotees. The rooftop terrace with jacuzzi offers unparalleled views of San Miguel.

WHO WAS BISHOP DÍEZ DE SOLLANO?

José María de Jesús Díez de Sollano y Dávalos was born in San Miguel de Allende on November 29th, 1820. One of San Miguel’s most illustrious sons, at 43 he became the first native-born Mexican bishop and is responsible for the exquisite façade of the beloved and much admired church in the town center, Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.

Casa del Obispo is a unique and exclusive piece of history, awaiting its next curator.
